Istanbul Finance Center Discussed at KAYES III
The 3rd International Kahramanmaraş Management, Economics and Politics (KAYES) Congress that was organized by ASEAD took place online on October 15-16, 2020 in collaboration with The International University of Sarajevo under the theme “Finance and Banking Toward Turkey’s 2023 Goals.”
Academicians and special guests from 10 different countries, including U.S.A., England, Algeria, Sudan, Greece, Russia, India, Kyrgyztan, Kazakhstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the Congress.
2 Special Sessions were held during the Congress that addressed the problems of the SMEs in the Central Bosnia Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and The Istanbul Finance Center, in addition to academic presentations in the panels.
The 2nd Special Session focused on the Istanbul Finance Center. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Örnek (ASEAD Board Chairperson and the panel moderator), Dr. Serkan Yüksel (Director of the Department of Istanbul Finance Center at the Presidency of The Republic of Turkey), Ömer Çekin (Department Head of Participation Banking at the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency of Turkey) and Hasan Demirhan (Vice President of Black Sea Trade and Development Bank) participated in the panel.
Considering the location of Istanbul, the increasing human capital, variety of financial instruments, the investments in physcial and technological infrastructure, participants declared that Istanbul Finance Center may become a regional finance center and then may take steps toward becoming a global finance center.
Moderator Prof. Dr. İbrahim Örnek expressed appreciation to the participants for their insightful explanations and comments on the issue. The moderator ended the session with a thank to TİKA for their continous support to KAYES Congress series.
